Check: Unburden Sneasler
C4EFC063-0574-4E0D-99DE-325F67F44A4E.png

Sneasler @ Normal Gem
Level: 100
Adamant Nature
Tera Type: Flying/Fighting/Dark
Ability: Unburden
EVs: 40 HP/ 252 Atk / 216 Spe
- Gunk Shot
- Close Combat
- Acrobatics/Swords Dance/Night Slash
- Fake Out

Although Normal Gem Fake Out is a more uncommon way of activating Unburden on Sneasler, this set provides a definitive check as it cannot switch in on an attack but will beat Valiant 1v1 if given a turn to switch in. I find the given EV spread optimal for most Sneasler, as it outspeeds base 100s unboosted while maximising attack. Tera is unnecessary for beating Valiant; listed are options for a general Sneasler set depending on the 3rd move picked.

Gunk Shot is essential here, as with Dire Claw you would need to predict opposing Tera since Fake Out + Dire Claw does not KO if they Tera Dark, while if they don’t Tera, Fake Out + CC won’t kill. Fake Out into Gunk Shot always kills regardless of Tera, although Tera Flying Acrobatics can be used instead if you don’t want to risk the 80% accuracy and have Tera available. However, the ability to set up with SD or break Gholdengo with Tera Dark Night Slash may be more valuable, so Gunk Shot is by far the best option with these sets; SD + Gunk Shot is particularly useful for securing potential follow-up KOs on Zap and Moltres with a non-contact move.

252+ Atk Normal Gem Sneasler Fake Out vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Iron Valiant: 68-81 (23.5 - 28%) -- 88.2% chance to 4HKO
252+ Atk Sneasler Gunk Shot vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Iron Valiant: 470-554 (162.6 - 191.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Sneasler Gunk Shot vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Tera Dark Iron Valiant: 235-277 (81.3 - 95.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ Atk Tera Flying Sneasler Acrobatics (110 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Tera Dark Iron Valiant: 216-255 (74.7 - 88.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Although Sneasler resists both CC and Knock Off, this mon cannot switch in freely as +2 CC is a roll in their favour to kill, which is why this is a Check and not a counter. An alternative spread of 32 HP / 252 Atk / 224 Spe with a Jolly nature can be ran to force out Valiant multiple times in a single game, as this outruns non-booster Valiant even without Unburden. However, unless they have taken Stealth Rock chip, Fake Out into Gunk Shot is then only a roll (in your favour) to kill if they Tera Dark and so the former spread is preferable for almost all situations.

252 Atk Normal Gem Sneasler Fake Out vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Iron Valiant: 62-74 (21.4 - 25.6%) -- 0.8% chance to 4HKO
252 Atk Sneasler Gunk Shot vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Tera Dark Iron Valiant: 214-253 (74 - 87.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
This does 95.4-113.1% total, so having Stealth Rock up is required for this alternative spread to handle Valiant guaranteed.

Congratulations to :Moltres: and InvisibleWater and to :Scream Tail: and nines! for winning the previous round. Your sets have been added to the Hall of Fame. Now for the last pre DLC Victim of the Week we have... Swords Dance Hisuian Samurott!

Ability: Sharpness
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Tera Type: Water

- Aqua Jet / Sucker Punch

Swords Dance Samurott can be a potent wincon, able to open a path for itself thanks to Ceaseless Edge setting up Spikes which help soften the opposing team. With Aqua Jet or Sucker Punch rounding up its moveset, it cant prevent revenge killing attempts from the likes of Dragapult, Cinderace, and even Pokemon that arent weak to its stabs such as Enamorus have a chance of getting OHKOed by the power of a Tera Water Aqua Jet after a Swords Dance. What checks and counters does this Pokemon have?

Counter (I think): My crippling Tera Fighting addiction Mudsdale

:mudsdale:

Mudsdale @ Aguav Berry
Level: 100
Impish Nature
Tera Type: Fighting
Ability: Stamina
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
- Body Press
- Earthquake
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

Yes, I am going here.
This is the Mudsdale set that I typically run on all my teams because I'm a fucking psychopath, and it tends to counter (I think that's the right term) most of the Hamurott sets it comes across, and this one doesn't seem to be an exception.

In order to be able to OHKO this Mudsdale set while it's Terastallized, this Hamurott needs to BOTH set up a Swords Dance and Terastallize while using Razor Shell. (Or it could get to +4 Atk but shhhh.) Additionally, this Mudsdale, when Terastallized
However, before Mudsdale Terastallizes, Hamurott CAN OHKO with either +2 or Tera, so that is something to keep in mind.

However, the main reason I bring this up is its ability to OHKO non-Terad Hamurott after Tera Fighting.
252+ Def Tera Fighting Mudsdale Body Press vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Samurott-Hisui: 288-338 (89.7 - 105.2%) -- 31.3% chance to OHKO

And what do you do if the Hamurott DOES Terastallize?
Just keep spamming Body Press lol.
252 Atk Mystic Water Sharpness Tera Water Samurott-Hisui Razor Shell vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Tera Fighting Mudsdale: 186-220 (46 - 54.4%) -- 55.1% chance to 2HKO
252 Atk Mystic Water Sharpness Tera Water Samurott-Hisui Razor Shell vs. +1 252 HP / 252+ Def Tera Fighting Mudsdale: 124-148 (30.6 - 36.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 Atk Mystic Water Sharpness Tera Water Samurott-Hisui Razor Shell vs. +2 252 HP / 252+ Def Tera Fighting Mudsdale: 94-112 (23.2 - 27.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

(Note that the above calcs are building off of the highest possible non-crit damage for the prior calc)
Without Swords Dance, Tera Water Hamurott can't even 3HKO Tera Fighting Mudsdale after Stamina and Figy Berry.

Also, if you switch into Ceaseless Edge you just kinda win lol.
252 Atk Sharpness Samurott-Hisui Ceaseless Edge vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Mudsdale: 102-120 (25.2 - 29.7%) -- guaranteed 4HKO
+1 252+ Def Tera Fighting Mudsdale Body Press vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Samurott-Hisui: 428-506 (133.3 - 157.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Also there's Rest Talk, too ig, if you just want to bully the Hamurott.

lol.

So yeah, chesnaught comes in for free against sammy and just does whatever it wants. Its never in danger of anything and can just set spikes freely if it wants. Plus, it has id+bp so if your opponent can't ohko naught/has no ghost, he's claiming a kill every time he comes in lol.

But yeah, here's the set :

I much prefer steel over fairy in this meta bc the common teammates that you run with ches are mostly immune to fighting, and steel tera walls the fuck out of like 3 val sets. You can change to fairy if you fear mons like sd bax, but dd bax gets omega walled by even non tera ches which is hilarious. But yeah, got a bit sidetracked. This set is a counter, with or without tera sammy gets pissed on. The only thing you have to worry about is getting hit with the triple spike damage, but with good play/a cinder this is extremely negligible, and quite honestly easy to deal with.

Samurott resists its own STABs, allowing it to check itself.

You can't switch in on a Razor Shell due to the risk of a defense drop, but otherwise you win.

+2 252 Atk Sharpness Samurott-Hisui Ceaseless Edge vs. 0 HP / 196 Def Tera Grass Samurott-Hisui: 268-316 (83.4 - 98.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252+ Atk Choice Band Tera Grass Samurott-Hisui Tera Blast vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Tera Water Samurott-Hisui: 456-536 (142 - 166.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO

The 60 speed EVs allow you to outrun and OHKO defensive Landorus-T (as well as specially defensive Rotom-Wash and max speed Ursaluna/Azumarill/Kingambit). You only need 188 Def EVs to survive +2 Ceaseless Edge, so you can move the other 8 into HP or SpD if you want.

Alternatively, you could run Impish with 48 HP / 208 Atk / 252 Def EVs, allowing you to counter Samurott at the cost of having a worse matchup against the other mons mentioned above:

- Leech Seed
- Protect

:Wo-Chien: resists all attacks so it can freely switch in and not be pressured at all by :Samurott-Hisui: even after it swords dance on the switch. Giga drain here is able to heal back almost all of the health lost from an attack. The important parts of the set for wo chien are max defense and health and having giga drain. The other moves and the tera are not important here.

After 1 SDs here are some calcs
+2 252 Atk Mystic Water Sharpness Tera Water Samurott-Hisui Razor Shell vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Tablets of Ruin Wo-Chien: 140-165 (37.4 - 44.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
+2 252 Atk Mystic Water Sharpness Tera Water Samurott-Hisui Razor Shell vs. -1 252 HP / 252+ Def Tablets of Ruin Wo-Chien: 209-247 (55.8 - 66%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
+2 252 Atk Sharpness Tera Water Samurott-Hisui Ceaseless Edge vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Tablets of Ruin Wo-Chien: 75-89 (20 - 23.7%) -- possible 6HKO after Leftovers recovery

After 1 SD and Defense Drop or Crit
+2 252 Atk Mystic Water Sharpness Tera Water Samurott-Hisui Razor Shell vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Tablets of Ruin Wo-Chien on a critical hit: 209-247 (55.8 - 66%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

After 1 SD and Defense Drop Crit
+2 252 Atk Mystic Water Sharpness Tera Water Samurott-Hisui Razor Shell vs. -1 252 HP / 252+ Def Tablets of Ruin Wo-Chien on a critical hit: 314-370 (83.9 - 98.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

And meanwhile
0 SpA Wo-Chien Giga Drain vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Tera Water Samurott-Hisui: 218-260 (67.9 - 80.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO (29.1 - 34.7% recovered)

After giga drain and leftover recovery Wo Chien heals almost all of the damage taken from non crits after a SD. Even after a crit it only takes about a net total of about 25% health lost. One crit is fine since you still win since the next attack will only deal at most 66% (assuming they got a defense drop on Wo Chien the last hit). The only sequence that actually kills is a tera water crit + defense drop razor shell into a crit razor shell. And if there are max spikes and rocks up then you still win since you start at 68.5% (37.5% lost from hazards, 6% healed from leftovers) and without a crit the max damage tera water Razor shell after a SD is 44.1% and you heal at least 35.1% from giga drain and leftovers. This means after the first giga drain you have at minimum 59.5% health which is more than enough (not accounting for a crit).

All of these calcs are including tera water since without tera water giga drain heals more than razor shell would deal after a SD (see below) and all are accounting for a SD on the switch since any non SD move on the switch just means it cannot deal that much damage in the long run to wo chien after it is in. SD + Razor Shell + Razor Shell is more damage then Razor Shell + Razor Shell + Razor Shell.

Non Tera Water after a SD
+2 252 Atk Mystic Water Sharpness Samurott-Hisui Razor Shell vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Tablets of Ruin Wo-Chien: 105-123 (28 - 32.8%) -- 85.5% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery

Non SD Razor Shell
252 Atk Mystic Water Sharpness Samurott-Hisui Razor Shell vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Tablets of Ruin Wo-Chien: 52-62 (13.9 - 16.5%) -- possible 9HKO after Leftovers recovery
Non SD Razor Shell Tera Water
252 Atk Mystic Water Sharpness Tera Water Samurott-Hisui Razor Shell vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Tablets of Ruin Wo-Chien: 70-83 (18.7 - 22.1%) -- possible 6HKO after Leftovers recovery

Dondozo is a counter. While it doesn't resist any of Samurott's moves and having to rely on Rest for recovery sucks, Dondozo's gargantuan physical bulk and Unaware allow it to switch into its attacks fairly comfortably, regardless of how many Swords Dance boosts it has acquired. Once in, Dondozo can threaten a 2HKO with Body Press unless Samurott Teras. Of course, even then, Samurott likely won't be making any progress for a while.

It's worth noting that Dondozo can use Tera Fighting to regain the ability to 2HKO a post-Tera Samurott (or have pretty good odds of OHKOing one that hasn't Tera'd yet), but if you do that, Tera Water Razor Shell becomes a 2HKO at -1.

As a lover of wo-chizzy, this mon has some crazy walling potential.

Not only does this mon counter samurott, it also can knock gholdengo so that your team can remove the spikes set.

The strongest move that samurott can deal to wo-chien doesn't even guarantee a 6hko. Meaning not only can wo chien deal with swapping in on samurott, it can actually deal with swapping in on it after it has already set up a swords dance .

252 Atk Mystic Water Sharpness Samurott-Hisui Razor Shell vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Tablets of Ruin Wo-Chien: 72-86 (19.2 - 22.9%) -- possible 6HKO after Leftovers recovery

In return you can set up for your team with leech, or get a free knock.

But if you want to outright kill. Wo chien giga 2hkos samurott while healing for a min of 25% hp

4 SpA Wo-Chien Giga Drain vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Samurott-Hisui: 222-264 (69.1 - 82.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO.

Truly a live wo-chien reaction
